- Halloween Party details:
- Students will have 15 minutes after specials prior to the parade to change into costumes. Students can wear the "base layer" of their costumes to help speed up the changing process!
- Halloween costumes should NOT be scary to younger kids or gory. No weapons of any kind
- Parade is at 10:15 the party will start immediately after
- Halloween is a HALF day!

Student Blog
This week our class had a raffle on Monday 14 people got a prize. And on Friday we have over 20 mins so far for extra recess. We also started social studies, in social studies we are learning about latitude and longitude. In writing we are doing batty writing. In music we are getting ready for our 5th grade concert on the 21 of November. In math we are getting ready for a test on decimals. Our class goal this week is to have a clean work space and class room. we are doing a debate about our book club books this week the debate is on the 25 of October in reading. we are still working on home of the brave and schooled for read aloud. This week for the positivity project we are studding perseverance and every Friday we write about what we learned. in art we are making art for our 5th grade concert. in word study we are doing activity and making words. We also shared our stories with a group for writing. we finished science on Monday the 21. in gym we did our sit and reach test. last week we got new book club books and finished writing. by Emma and Erin.
Weekly "How to Help at Home" Tip! :
- Have your child play Prodigy this weekend! A math review is set up.
- While doing math homework involving decimals, students have a laminated place value chart. This really helps them stay organized and strengthen their understanding of place value!
Academic and P2 Highlights for next week:
Positivity Project: Next week we will be learning about creativity. Students will be able to practice their creativity lots during Halloween week!
Math: Unit 2- Unit 2 Assessment will be on Tuesday, October 29th. After this we will be reviewing fractions in preparation for the Quarter 1 Common Assessment.
Readers' Workshop: Students are all in their second book club book. Students will be comparing conflicts, characters, and themes from both books. They will be learning additional strategies to find themes within their stories.
Writers' Workshop: Students will be reviewing parts of speech before beginning our second writing unit. Students will learn how to incorporate conjunctions and interjections into their own writing.
Social Studies: Chapter 1: Geography Review. Students are reviewing geographical terms they learned in fourth grade and completing geo-challenges.
