Welcome to Week 1 of Orlowski's Weekly Updates! Here you will get a sneak peek at what your child will be learning next week, and any other important updates regarding your child's classroom. Thank you for taking the time to check out what is happening in Room 107.

Academic and P2 Highlights for next week:
Positivity Project: Next week we will be learning about the Other People Matter Mindset. We will be having discussion on why it is important to care for others.
Math: Unit 1- This week we will be learning about unit fractions equivalent fractions, and fractions greater than one. Expect to see math homework coming home in your child's work folder. You can Click on our Math Page to find Unit 1 Homework copies and other resources.
Readers' Workshop: Students will be meeting their reading partners and reviewing story element vocabulary. Students should be reading at home approximately 100 minutes every week! If students do not finish their story mountain in class this week, you will see it come home as homework.
Writers' Workshop: Students will be bringing in materials to decorate their notebooks on TUESDAY. Students will also begin to collect memories and write down seed ideas for our narrative unit.
Social Studies: Students will be learning about the geography of the United States and how we use globes and maps to help us describe locations. After we complete Unit 1, we will be taking a break already from Social Studies and beginning our first Science unit on 9/18.

- We all made it through the first week of school! The kids were impressive and we are well on our way to a great Fifth Grade year!
- Curriculum Night is Wednesday! Hope to see everyone there! 6:00-6:30 and again 6:45-7:15
